The John Muir Award is an environmental award
scheme focused on wild places. It encourages awareness and responsibility for
the natural environment, in a spirit of fun, adventure and exploration.
Cyfleon offer all 3 tiers of the award:
- Discovery (Introductory)
- Explorer (Intermediate)
- Conserver (Advanced)
Our programme can
be tailored to include orienteering, mountain biking, hill walking, geo-caching
and water sports for more adventurous groups. This programme can also be delivered
as part of a residential/camp experience.
Four themes are at the heart of each John Muir Award:
ü Discover a wild place.
ü Explore its wildness.
ü Conserve & take personal responsibility.
ü Share your experiences.
Cyfleon
use proven pedagogical approaches to improve learning and personal
effectiveness in children. We draw upon
global best practice in learning outside of the classroom and outdoor education
we are able to provide young people with holistic learning experiences that
support the development of the ‘whole’ child.
We ensure there is an appropriate level of ‘scaffolding’ to ensure children & young people of all capabilities receive the right level of challenge to achieve.
